It seems to be the cool thing to do to label yourself on your tumblr description. So... I'm a queer anarchist vegetarian transfeminist.

I try to tag triggering stuff, but please let me know if you want me to start tagging something extra or if something slips by.

I am kinda obsessed with eyeliner.

GOP lawmaker: Virtually impossible to get AIDS through heterosexual sex

reagan-was-a-horrible-president:

Tennessee state Sen. Stacey Campfield (R) falsely claimed on Thursday that it was nearly impossible for someone to contract AIDS through heterosexual contact.

“Most people realize that AIDS came from the homosexual community,” he told Michelangelo Signorile, who hosts a radio program on SiriusXM OutQ. “It was one guy screwing a monkey, if I recall correctly, and then having sex with men. It was an airline pilot, if I recall.”

“My understanding is that it is virtually — not completely, but virtually — impossible to contract AIDS through heterosexual sex.”

…….

It is not actually possible for you to be more wrong, Campfield, because there is nothing true or correct anywhere in that lie you just said.

This is apparently an old story. But it shows a pattern in the GOP that anything bad that ever happens to you is your fault because good things don’t happen to “good”/godly people. Got pregnant through rape and you’re unequipt to handle a child? Well, rape victims can’t get pregnant so therefore it’s somehow your own fault and you did something to deserve it/i.e. be punished for your sins. Got AIDS as a straight cisgender couple? Well, actually only gay people can get AIDS so you’re not really being honest, are you? Once again, it’s actually your fault and you should have been a better person so better things would have happened to you. It’s callous and sickening and I can’t understand why anyone would buy into this way of thinking unless they believe it’s a form of protecting themselves. If they’re perfect and adhere to the “rules” than they totally will magically escape every bad thing in the world. It’s a very childlike way of approaching the world because most adults realize both life and logic doesn’t work like that.

^ Yup, ongoing culture of blaming the victim from the GOP. If bad things only happen to bad people, then if you’re a good person (by their standards - AKA if you’re straight, cis, celibate and Christian), those things will never happen to you!

Related: blood transfusions: now a form of homosexual contact?

proving, again, that republicans don’t understand anything about science.

This from a doctor.

Does this apply to children, too? What a tremendous failure of a human being.

cannot possibly reblog this quote enough.

How long until he starts denying he wrote this one too?
