liberalism believes a muslim woman’s biggest oppressor is her hijab and not military intervention, drone strikes, institutionalized sexism/misogyny, capitalism, imperialism, u.n. enforced sanctions, etc.
Liberalism and white men atheism
Nobody tries to take away your right to use a condom. Nobody hammers into your head that you should feel guilty and shameful about preventing your gift-from-God sperm from fertilizing an egg and thus ensuring the birth of a beautiful child. No politician tells you using condoms makes you a slut. Nobody bombs a convenience store that sells condoms, threatens people who put condom vending machines in areas, or attacks politicians who support condom use.
If I could offer advice to a young rebel, it would be to rummage the past for a body of thought that helps you understand and address the shortcomings you see. Give yourself a label. If your college hasn’t provided you with a good knowledge of countercultural viewpoints — ranging from Thoreau to Maritain — then your college has failed you and you should try to remedy that ignorance.
Effective rebellion isn’t just expressing your personal feelings. It means replacing one set of authorities and institutions with a better set of authorities and institutions. Authorities and institutions don’t repress the passions of the heart, the way some young people now suppose. They give them focus and a means to turn passion into change.
you should read this if you wanna see what a real life New Yorker says about religious persecution in the wake of September 11th

If a god had wanted to clearly communicate a message to all earth’s peoples, it would not have created a bible so open to innumerable interpretations, subjective application, or so full of contradictions and errors.
How can ANYONE possibly say that they follow the word of God when no one can agree on just what the fuck the word of God is!? I mean, these aren’t the little questions — these are questions fundamental to what their God is all about.
Makes one think that man made god in his image, doesn’t it?
the word of god… pick the flavor that best suits your current moral views, and claim divine inspiration!
MOSCOW — A judge found three members of the provocative punk band Pussy Riot guilty of hooliganism on Friday, in a case that has drawn widespread international condemnation as an emblem of Russia’s intolerance of dissent.
If there was a god, she would be queer. If there was a god, she would be black. If there was a god, she would be blind. If there was a god, she would be latin@, asexual, indian, lesbian, disabled, genderqueer, chinese, gay, non-neurotypical, thai, nonbinary, deaf, and pansexual. If there was a god, she would be fat. If there was a god, she would have AIDS. If there was a god, she would be sex-positive and body-positive. If there was a god, people would avoid her in the streets, and laugh at her, and spit at her. If there was a god, she would be an atheist.
If there was a god, she would actually give a shit about racism and sexism and oppression. If there was a god, she would care about intersectionality.
If there was a god, she would be hungry and tired and sick and poor and scared. If there was a god, she would be singing, laughing, spinning, shouting, dancing, yelling. If there was a god, she would draw and write and paint and joke and read and learn. If there was a god, she would question. If there was a god, she would worry, and doubt, and complain, and protest.
If there was a god, she would be music. If there was a god, she would be rap. She would be classical music, she would be funk and jazz and rock and salsa. If there was a god, she would be art. She would be abstract, expressionist, cubist. If there was a god, she would be cave paintings, and sculpture, and architecture, and the scribblings of a 3 year old. She would be an installation piece. She would be improv comedy, and theatrical plays, and film, and TV shows. If there was a god, she would be poems, and short stories, and novels, and multi-part epics.
If there was a god, she would be the sound of people laughing. If there was a god, she would be a handshake, a hug, a smile. If there was a god, she would be children playing on the playground. If there was a god, she would be a team working together to finish a project. If there was a god, she would be the sight of a friend across the street. If there was a god, she would be a mother and a child.
If there was a god, she would be the roar of a lion. If there was a god, she would be the chirping of birds. If there was a god, she would be the timidity of a rabbit, and the curiosity of a puppy.
If there was a god, she would be trees and bushes and flowers and grass. If there was a god, she would be pebbles and mountains and sand and rocks. If there was a god she would be clouds and sky. If there was a god, she would be thunder, and wind, and storms. If there was a god, she would be the sun, the stars, the moon. If there was a god, she would be rivers, swamps, lakes, and oceans.
If there was a god, she would be joy. If there was a god, she would be sorrow. If there was a god, she would be love and loss and fear and hope.
If there was a god, she would be shapes and color and lines and sound and chords and harmony and melody and texture. If there was a god, she would be sights and tastes and smells. If there was a god, she would be life, and death, and pleasure, and pain.
If there was a god, she would be patterns and organization and method. If there was a god, she would be math and science. If there was a god, she would also be chaos and spontaneity and creativity. If there was a god, she would be art and literature. If there was a god, she wouldn’t have a plan. If there was a god, she would be good and evil. If there was a god, she would be balance, and everything, and nothing.
If there was a god, she would be living, breathing, experiencing, existence. If there was a god, she would be me, and you, and everyone, and also no one.
If there was a god, she wouldn’t be something you worshiped, or feared, or followed, or even loved. She would be something you lived.
This is from last year but it’s obviously still relevant.

if you actually read the bible objectively, god is pretty much a complete asshole and satan offered humanity the tree of knowledge. satan FTW
